Saw/Pattern Burn Operator

Manually and with machinery cut metal to required size using saw or burner. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Set up and operate programmable machines to burn, saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, and/or straighten metal material
  • Operate basic measuring equipment  (tape measure, vernier calliper, angle finder)
  • Clean all factory and cut edges off of materials
  • Identify and mark steel properly per part number, description number and grade
  • Safely operate material handling equipment  (lift truck, overhead crane, forklift)
  • Consistently wear proper PPE as needed for task
  • Legibly and accurately complete required paperwork
  • Basic understanding of cutting gas pressures and kerf relationships
  • Ability to use various hand tools to include but not limited to: screwdriver, wrench, and ratchet
  • Ability to operate various power tools to include but not limited to: sander, table saw, chop saw, grinder, air blower
  • Conduct quality and quantity checks of material received notify appropriate personnel of non-conformances
  • Ability to safely use carts, dollies and hoists to move products / parts

QUALIFiCATIONS

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma.   Basic to mid – level computer literacy; 2-3 years powered industrial truck experience; Welding experience preferred

Language Skills

Reads and comprehends simple instructions, brief correspondence, and memos; Presents information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees effectively.

Mathematical Skills

Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Computes rate, ratio, and percent.  Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure and compare measurements to spec sheet to determine compliance

Reasoning Ability

Applies common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
